Are you a content writer?

I am - and I think every digital content writer should be working to make the internet a more interesting (and inspiring) place.

So in this newsletter, I share quotes I love from modern culture. I take inspiration from novels, non-fiction books, magazines, music, and more - and I put each quote in context so you can add it to your swipe file and use it to make your own content better. AI hasn’t read all these books or listen to all this music (yet); and it doesn’t understand why these quotes matter, or the obscure links you can make between a random novel from 1993 and the blog post you’re writing today.

Use these quotes to weave the richness and nuance of life into the things you write. And if anyone asks you if you really know where that quote you used came from, you can say um, yes.

Do you want to contribute a quote?

I love it when readers send me quotes from things they’re reading or listening to. You can send me the context too, or I can research that - but it’s great if you share your personal context so my readers can understand what made each quote special to you.

All reader-contributed quotes will be for the paid tier of this newsletter only - so you don’t have to worry that your ideas will instantly be out there in the wild for the whole world to see.

Stay up-to-date

You won’t have to worry about missing anything. Every new edition of the newsletter goes directly to your inbox and you’ll have full access to past newsletters here.

Who’s it for?

Content writers who want to add unique, inspiring, and sometimes slightly weird references to their work.

Who am I?

I’m Izzy, a content writer and ghostwriter with clients including LEAP (the world’s biggest tech event), Black Hat MEA, Vex King, and Cubicle Ninjas. I have a background in social anthropology and (like most writers) an obsession with the power of stories.

I use references from a vast and bizarre range of sources to make my work stand out from the crowd. And I want to help other content writers do the same — because I love stumbling across new novels, mind-bending ideas, and amazing music when I’m reading content online. It just makes the internet a more exciting place.
